We facilitate livelihood initiatives through community driven structure (SHGs) / Federations under micro-finance /bank linkage/self-financing. The economic activities are setup after rigorous leadership development and skilling/entrepreneurship training. Presently in 2 districts of Jharkhand with the support of Jharkhand Tribal Development Society, 500 SHGs and 68 Youth Groups are associated with banks and about 99% have received seed capital and livelihood projects like goat farming, poultry farming, piggery, vegetable cultivation, rabbi cropping (wheat, pulses, oilseeds, vegetable), SRI method rice & wheat cropping, nutrition garden and fruit garden. Irrigation well and shallow well have been constructed for farmers groups and for irrigating field pump set distributed. Animal sheds, Bio-gas plant and Farmers service centre constructed for beneficiaries.
We provide healthcare support to mothers (pregnant and lactating), eligible couple, children including new-born, infants, young children, adolescents, elderly persons and people living with HIV along with HIV infected children.
Programmes like Improving Health of Mother and Child; Targeted Intervention Project, Vihaan Care & Support Centre and Link Worker Scheme are programmes that serves community health problems.
We support the education of most marginalized children particularly young girls through learning centre and mainstreaming for formal schooling, with the aim that they stay in school and complete schooling. Girl Child Education Program is implemented in Paliganj block of Patna district and Laukaha, Khutauna & Jhanjharpur blocks of Madhubani district.
We also care and protect children from any forms of exploitation- be it child labour, child trafficking, child sexual exploitation, physical and mental torture. Programs like CHILDLINE 1098, Children Homes, SAA, Addressing Child Marriage and Child Labour respond to care & protection of children.
Under various programmes and especially through NIRDESH run Jan Shikshan Sansthan vocational skill and employment are provided to thousands of youths for economic upliftment. About 19000 people trained and about 12000 are engaged employed/self- employed since, 2009.
About 3500 elected women representatives (PRIs) empowered as Champion Leaders from Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi and East Champaran districts are addressing addiction, domestic violence, child marriage, child labour, human trafficking and linkage marginalized communities with social entitlements and social welfare schemes. These PRIs have been empowered to monitor different village level institutions like schools, anganwadi centre, VHND and health service centre and report to the concern departments & pursue for demanding better services. We are working for the rural and urban poverty alleviation among SCs, OBCs, Minority and those under BPL.
During these challenging and uncertain times, the organization remains committed to supporting the most vulnerable communities. As lockdowns are being imposed across Bihar, the impact of the covid-19 pandemic has put an enormous strain on vulnerable groups, especially migrants, women and children. In the district where we operate, children and adults in forced or bonded labour are facing hunger, disease, abuse and an inability to move to safe places. These vulnerable groups have been provided rations assistance to minimise their trouble.
